“Small Business Saturday is a grassroots campaign designed to support, inspire and celebrate small businesses across the UK."
This is the second year of the national campaign, which was a movement founded by American Express in the US and only launched in the UK last year. Small businesses are the backbone of the British economy and this day encourages shoppers to visit those small and independent retailers to look for the perfect and unique Christmas gift.
